We went out to eat for my Mother-In-Law's birthday, and everyone agreed this was the best meal we have ever had in Dothan! Dothan has some amazing restaurants, but this was next level! We started with the buffalo chicken and cheese egg rolls. Sometimes the buffalo flavor can be overpowering, but these had a delicious balance. I had the lamb chops with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. I will probably have dreams about this meal. It was fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant. Be prepared to pay a little more, but it's definitely worth it.
Great Food. Jorge Chicken Garcia and Ribeye were great. Best fried chicken I’ve had from a Restaurant. Ribeye was really good. Only reason not 5 star is no draft beer. Besides that it was really great.
Nick's Chophouse delivers a nice culinary experience that's a welcome addition to the Dothan dining scene. The chef's talent is undeniable, and the quality of the food is top-notch. 🍽️ The Highlights * Lamb: The lamb dish was outstanding, easily the best I've had in Dothan. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Highly recommended! * Chocolate Cake: The dessert was a showstopper. This wasn't just good cake; it was, without exaggeration, the best chocolate cake I have ever had in my life. It truly "takes the cake." * Drinks: The cocktails were yummy and well-made, complementing the meal nicely. * Ribeye: My husband had the ribeye, which was certainly flavorful. However, next time, we'll opt for the filet, as we felt the ribeye, while good, didn't quite hit the exceptional mark of the lamb. * Egg Rolls: The egg rolls were good as an appetizer but nothing especially memorable or unique. 💸 Pricing Concerns While the food quality is superb, the pricing is a significant point of concern. The cost, specifically for the steaks, seems exaggerated for the Dothan market. A ribeye priced at $70 is beyond what one would expect, verging on prices seen in major metropolitan areas like New York City. To put it into perspective, I wouldn't pay more than $45 for a comparable ribeye in a much larger city. I give full credit to the chef, the food is genuinely good, and we will certainly go back, but the management needs to re-evaluate the pricing to better align with the location and value. Service was ok. For the price you’d expect a higher degree of service. I waited over 30 minutes for a cocktail. By the time I got it, I was almost done with my meal. The server disappeared for most the night and the host ran around to help. Overall Rating: Great food, but the pricing needs adjustment.
Nick is truly just a special human, his passion for food is so incredibly infectious. You can just tell his love for food by the way he talks about it and it’s extremely evident in every bite. Between Nick’s cooking and his absolutely lovely wife Carrie running the front of the house, it’s just impossible to have a bad experience here. We came on Halloween night, fully expecting to just grab a drink or maybe an appetizer. That quickly changed to ordering drinks AND food once we sat down at the bar. Our bartender was incredibly friendly and greeted us right away. Our drinks were made quickly and were fabulous. We ended up ordering the Bone in Pork Chop to share but before our entrée came out Chef Nick sent out an unexpected treat, the Lamb Chops. Let me just say I’ve never had lamb in my life, I’m not a gamey meat kind of person so I’ve just never cared to try it. But to my complete surprise this was absolutely NOT that. It actually kinda blew my mind how tender and flavorful it was without being the least bit gamey. It had me ravenously picking up the bone and eating it, leaving my manners somewhere tucked away in my purse. It’s safe to say that Lamb is definitely something I will be having more of in the future. Now after devouring that our Bone in Pork Chop came out to us and this thing is MASSIVE! They do NOT skimp on portion sizes here, you get what you pay for and more. When I tell you this Pork Chop was tender, we were quite literally using our fork to “cut” it. It was spectacular, seasoned perfectly and that Black Garlic Tupelo Honey sauce…seriously bottle it and sell it. It was a perfect match with the pork, the grilled pears and sweet potatoes. Truly an immaculate dish from conception to execution. Of course since we just came for “drinks” and already inhaled two entrée’s at this point we had to finish strong with ordering dessert! The special Halloween dessert they had looked amazing but since I’m celiac we ordered the tried and true crème brûlée. I’ve had a lot of crème brûlées, I mean like A LOT. This one is still by far my absolute favorite. It’s perfectly chilled, not too sweet and the vanilla bean comes through cleanly without being all you can taste. I’m really looking forward to trying more desserts from their new pastry Chef Kourtney (I will order whatever gluten free dessert you make, like all of them, every single time they’re beyond appreciated 😂🩷). Side Note: Being Celiac this is one of the very few restaurants locally where I don’t feel like a burden or just seen as this obnoxiously pretentious person for simply just wanting to enjoy a nice meal out that’s also safe. This disease is hard, especially as someone who loves food as much as I do. So thank you Nick, Carrie, and the whole team, for always allowing me to have a wonderful, worry free night out. P.S. I did notice the recent addition of “gluten free” notations on your menu. It might seem like a small detail, but it did not go unnoticed and is very appreciated. Thank you for the thoughtfulness 🩷!
We visited last night for my son’s birthday, right off the bat the staff was very welcoming, everyone we saw greeted us. It is a rarity in this area to find servers who know the menu they are serving and can accurately make suggestions and ask questions to better the guest experience. The the drinks were delicious and fresh, we tried the Spicy Pineapple and an old fashioned made with reposado, both were phenomenal. The apps, entrees and desserts were incredible, hands down the best steak in Dothan. I do not care what others you suggest, I have had those and this is the best! We will be back.
We went to NCH a couple weeks ago for my husband’s birthday. Our waitress was great and kind. The steaks and chicken were great. My father in law had the veal and his only complaint was it not being crispy, so he would get the sauce on the side. It looked delicious. The tuna dip was the best I’ve ever had. So we will definitely go back.
Nick’s Chophouse Kitchen + Bar is an incredible new addition to Dothan! I had the veal piccata, and it was excellent — tender, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. My girlfriend ordered the New York strip, and it was spot on: juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked exactly how she wanted. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in every dish. The atmosphere is just as impressive. The space feels stylish yet welcoming, and they even had a live band playing the night we visited, which really elevated the whole experience. It gave the restaurant a fun, energetic vibe while still keeping it classy and comfortable. The staff deserves a lot of credit too — friendly, attentive, and professional without hovering. For a place that just opened on August 28th, everything felt smooth, organized, and polished. Dothan has been needing a spot like this, and Nick’s Chophouse is already delivering at a high level. Between the food, service, and live entertainment, it’s a 5-star experience all the way. We’ll definitely be back!
We have been twice since they opened and both times have been great! The food is excellent, high quality cuts of meat and fish, beautiful menu choices, the portions are generous, and the people and service are all wonderful. They clearly put a lot of care into their dishes and customers. We will definitely be visiting regularly and are glad we have this place as part of Dothan and Downtown!
